- Eyes 2025 eradication goal
Bhopal, – In a significant stride towards India’s ambitious goal of becoming TB-free by 2025, the Bhopal Memorial Hospital & Research Centre (BMHRC) today inaugurated a Directly Observed Treatment Short Course (DOTS) Center at its Health Center No. 5 in Ginnauri. The center was officially opened by Dr. Manisha Srivastava, In-charge Director of BMHRC.
This new DOTS center will provide regular, free, and high-quality treatment to gas tragedy victims and other TB patients residing in Ginnauri and surrounding areas. Beyond dispensing medication, the center will ensure crucial treatment adherence monitoring, follow-ups, and counseling, facilitating complete recovery. This initiative marks a vital contribution by BMHRC to the National Tuberculosis Elimination Program.
“TB eradication is a national goal under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘TB-Free India 2025’ mission, and BMHRC is fully committed to it,” stated Dr. Srivastava. “The DOTS center will offer timely diagnosis, treatment, and awareness, bringing us closer to eradicating this curable yet deadly disease.”
The DOTS strategy, endorsed by the World Health Organization as highly effective for TB control, promotes medication regularity and reduces the risk of drug resistance. This launch reinforces BMHRC’s active role in achieving a healthier, TB-free India.
