Nursing officer booked for dowry harassment

Bhopal: Bagh Sewaniya police have registered a dowry harassment case against a nursing officer posted at AIIMS Bhopal. The accused, Rohit Richhariya, allegedly subjected his wife—also a nursing officer at AIIMS—to continuous mental torture over dowry demands, including a car and cash. The couple had been living separately for the past month due to the harassment.

According to Bagh Sewaniya Police Station in-charge Amit Soni, the 32-year-old complainant, a native of Uttarakhand, married Rohit, who hails from Chhatarpur, in 2020. Assistant Sub-Inspector Sushma, who is investigating the case, confirmed that the woman was repeatedly harassed by Rohit, his mother Rajkumari, and sister Mohin despite receiving cash and gifts during the marriage.

The couple had been residing in a rented house in the Bagh Sewaniya area. The victim reported that the harassment began soon after the marriage and continued over the years. Following her complaint, the police have booked all three accused under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code related to domestic abuse and the Dowry Prohibition Act. Investigations are underway.
