  • Raja Raghuvanshi murder

Indore, Madhya Pradesh – Accused in the sensational Raja Raghuvanshi murder case, Sonam Raghuvanshi, is reportedly employing a series of tactics to mislead investigators in Shillong. After initially remaining silent and feigning headaches, she is now claiming memory loss, a move police believe is a deliberate attempt to evade justice.

Sonam’s shifting defenses

SIT officials report that Sonam has adopted various ploys to avoid questioning. For the first two days, she refused to answer any queries, complaining only of headaches. Now, her consistent response to every question is “I don’t remember anything.” Investigators suspect Sonam is trying to portray herself as mentally unstable to avoid conviction. However, lead officers remain unfazed by this “drama” and are pressing ahead with their robust investigation.

Police build ironclad case with 70 witnesses

Despite Sonam’s lack of cooperation, the police investigation team is actively piecing together the events of the murder. They have so far recorded statements from approximately 70 witnesses, including individuals who provided Sonam with a bike, hotel staff confirming their stay, guides, and other eyewitnesses.

Sources indicate that police have also recreated the crime scene with Sonam present, interrogating her at every step. While her cooperation remains minimal, authorities are meticulously collecting digital, physical, and eyewitness evidence to build a strong chargesheet. Police are skeptical of Sonam’s memory loss claim and are seeking medical evaluation to ascertain the truth.

Five accused, including Sonam, on eight-day remand

All five accused in the Raja Raghuvanshi murder case, including prime suspect Sonam Raghuvanshi and Raj Kushwah, were arrested and brought to Shillong on Tuesday by Meghalaya Police. They were produced in court on Wednesday, where police sought remand. The Shillong Court granted an eight-day police remand for all accused. Police now plan to conduct face-to-face interrogations and scene recreations to unravel the conspiracy and sequence of events leading to the murder. Comprehensive questioning of all accused will continue during the remand period.
