NSA Ajit Doval unable to attend key security meet in Moscow due to seasonal flu

New Delhi, May 26 (UNI) National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, who was to attend a key security meeting organised by Russia’s Security Council on May 27-29 in Moscow, is unable to participate due to indisposition with a seasonal flu, sources said.

NSA Doval was invited for the 13th international meeting of high representatives for security issues, under the chairmanship of the Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation Sergei Shoigu.

“He is, however, unable to participate in the meeting due to indisposition with a seasonal flu.

“He looks forward to take forward bilateral engagement with Russia on strategic and security matters at an early date,” the sources added.

Over 125 delegations from more than 100 countries and 14 international organisations have already confirmed their participation.

Pakistan, which is also a member of the SCO, will be attending, with its NSA Lt Gen Asim Malik expected to be in Moscow for the meeting.

The forum is expected to focus on international cooperation in the field of security. The Security Council of the Russian Federation has been organising the annual international meeting of high representatives in charge of security issues since 2010.

The forum is a platform for exchanging opinions on all issues related to security and mechanisms for strengthening cooperation between partner countries in the fight against international terrorism, extremism, transnational crime, drug trafficking, as well as new challenges and threats.
