Protest held outside Pakistan High Commission against Pahalgam massacre

New Delhi, Apr 24 (UNI) Raising slogans of “Pakistan Murdabad”, a few hundred people gathered outside the Pakistan High Commission in Chanakyapuri here on Thursday to protest against the horrific terror attack on tourists in Pahalgam in which Pakistan’s involvement has been established.

Pakistan-based terrorists brutally shot dead 26 tourists at the Baisaran meadow in picturesque Pahalgam two days ago.

The protest was organised by the Anti-Terror Action Forum and was attended by many local BJP leaders.

Shouting slogans against Pakistan, and holding aloft placards saying ‘Pakistan is a Terror State’, the protesters urged the Modi government to sever all ties with Pakistan and initiate the process to get Pakistan labelled as a “terror-sponsor state”.

Holding the Indian national flag in their hands, the protesters accused Pakistan of sponsoring terror activities in India.

The BJP’s Delhi unit president Virendra Sachdeva was also part of the protest.

A protester was heard saying, “We’ve come here to register our protest, what happened (in Pahalgam) was not right. It was completely against humanity, and that’s why we’re here.”

India on Wednesday downgraded its diplomatic ties with Pakistan, and announced it was suspending the Indus Waters Treaty, shutting down the Attari land border check post, and banning the entry of Pakistani nationals under the Saarc Visa programme. India also asked the defence advisors in the Pakistan High Commission to leave immediately, after terming them Persona Non Grata, and slashed the number of mission staff to 30 from 55.
