8 municipal corporations in state will receive 972 electric buses

Bhopal: To reduce environmental damage caused by diesel fuel in urban areas, electric buses are being promoted in public transport services. The Union Ministry of Urban Affairs has approved 972 PM e-bus services in eight municipal corporations in the state. To ensure these buses are operational quickly, urban bodies are rapidly implementing all infrastructure related to bus depots and charging.

For the construction of bus depot infrastructure in the state, the respective urban bodies are being provided 60 percent by the Central Government and 40 percent by the State Government. The Central Government is providing 100 percent funding for the construction of charging point infrastructure for the operation of electric buses.

PM e-buses approved in urban bodies

The municipal corporations approved for e-buses by the Union Ministry of Urban Affairs include 195 in Bhopal, 270 in Indore, 100 in Gwalior, 200 in Jabalpur, 100 in Ujjain, 32 in Sagar, 55 in Dewas, and 20 in Satna. To ensure the early commencement of e-bus services in urban bodies, the Urban Development and Housing Department has directed the concerned bodies to complete all infrastructure work related to bus depots and charging stations.
