Bijapur, Feb 1 (UNI) Eight Maoists were killed in an encounter with security forces in Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur district on Saturday, police said.
The bodies of all the slain Naxals have been recovered. The encounter took place in the forest of Todka. On receiving information about the presence of Maoists, a team of DRG, STF, CoBRA 202 and CRPF 222 battalion had left for the forests of Todka and Korcholi in Gangaloor.
On Saturday, there was an encounter between security forces and Naxalites in which eight Naxalites were killed. This number may increase further. There has been intermittent firing from both sides since around 8:30 am in the morning.
Police said that this operation was being run continuously by the security forces, in which the soldiers gave a strong reply to the Naxalites in the encounter. The firing is going on in the area.
The success has been seen by the security forces as a significant victory, which can prove to be a significant step towards curbing Naxal activities.
