8 dead, 50 Injured in tragic road accident in Bulandshahr’s Khurja

Bulandshahr, Aug 25 (UNI) A major road accident occurred today in the Khurja region of Bulandshahr district, resulting in the death of eight people and injuries to more than 50 others.

The tragic incident took place on National Highway 34 near Ghatala village in the Arnia area, when a speeding container truck rammed into a tractor-trolley carrying devotees.

According to police officials, the tractor-trolley was carrying around 60 devotees from Rafayadpur village in the Soron police station area of Kasganj district. The group was en route to Gogamedi temple in Rajasthan’s Hanumangarh district for a religious pilgrimage.

At approximately 2am on Monday, as the tractor-trolley reached near Ghatala village, the container truck collided into the rear of the vehicle at high speed, causing the devotees to be thrown off in various directions.

Police teams arrived swiftly at the scene and, with the help of ambulances and passersby, rushed the injured to nearby hospitals. A total of 29 injured persons were admitted to Kailash Hospital, 18 to Muni CHC, and 10 to Jatia Hospital. Doctors at Kailash Hospital declared six people dead, including two children, while two more were pronounced dead at Muni CHC.

The deceased have been identified as Eepu Babu (40), Rambeti (65), Chandni (12), Dhaniram (40), Mokshi (40), Shivansh (6), Yogesh (50), Vinod (45), all residents of Kasganj. Injured Rajkumar said “We were going from Soron to Gogamedi, when a car hit the trolley from behind. Our children were also with us, they have also suffered a lot of injuries”.

District Magistrate Shruti and SSP Dinesh Kumar Singh reached the site to assess the situation and ensure proper medical attention for the injured. SP Rural Dr. Tejveer Singh confirmed the details of the pilgrimage and the sequence of events.

Senior officials including SP Crime Shankar Prasad, ADM Pramod Kumar Pandey, SDM Pratiksha Pandey, CO Purnima Singh, and police forces from four stations reached at the scene for rescue and coordination efforts.

An investigation into the incident is underway.
