682 water bodies created in Tripura: CM

Agartala, Feb 24 (UNI) Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha claimed that as part of the nationwide initiative of constructing Amrit Sarovars (waterbodies) to sustain groundwater, the Tripura government has created as many as 682 waterbodies so far as part of the mission.
According to the decision, at least 75 ponds were proposed for each district across India.
Touching upon the central government’s achievements, Dr Saha attributed much of the region’s advancement to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Act East Policy, which has propelled Tripura and other North Eastern states onto a developmental path.
He criticised the opposition for their perceived ignorance of the state’s development efforts. He likened their perspective to people wearing “black glasses”, unwilling to see progress and needing “surgery” for what he described as cataract-like denial.
Despite this resistance, the government continues its developmental agenda, with projects amounting to over Rs. 1,300 crore either launched or inaugurated in just the past year.
He highlighted the ongoing work to construct an Eastern Ring Road around Agartala, while plans for a Western Ring Road await approval. Once completed, these roads are expected to significantly reduce traffic congestion in the city.
