6 killed, 7 injured as double-decker bus rams into car on Yamuna Expressway in Hathras

Hathras, March 3 (UNI) At least six people were killed and seven others seriously injured after a private double-decker bus rammed into an Eco van from behind on the Yamuna Expressway near Garhi Hariya village under Sadabad police station limits in Hathras in the early hours of Tuesday.

The accident occurred around 4 a.m. near milestone 141 when the bus, traveling from Delhi to Gorakhpur, collided with the Eco van that was heading towards Rajakhera in Dholpur. All the occupants of the van were residents of Gangoli village in Rajakhera, Rajasthan.

According to police officials, 13 people were traveling in the van at the time of the accident. Six of them died on the spot, while seven sustained serious injuries. The deceased have been identified as Dinesh (50), son of Hotam Singh; his wife Sunita (48); Vijay Baghel (27), son of Sukhram; and his wife Pinki Baghel (26). The identities of two other victims are yet to be confirmed.

The injured include the van driver Virendra, son of Ramprakash, along with Manoj (son of Suresh), Aryan (8), Anshu (6), Lakshya (1), Prachi (3), and Poonam Baghel (15). They have been admitted to hospitals in the Khandoli police station area for treatment.

Following the collision, there was chaos at the scene, and traffic on the expressway was temporarily disrupted. Police and administrative officials rushed to the spot soon after receiving information. The bodies of the deceased were sent to the district hospital for post-mortem examination.

Preliminary investigations suggest that overspeeding and negligence may have caused the accident. The bus driver is being questioned, and further investigation is underway.
