New Delhi, Dec 17 (UNI) Five members of the Aarzoo-Anmol Bishnoi-Harry Boxer syndicate were arrested by Delhi Police on Wednesday for their alleged role in the murder of a rival gangster in Chandigarh earlier this month, an official said.
Inderpreet Singh, alias Parry, the former close associate of gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, was shot dead on December 1 at Sector 26 Chandigarh, shortly after exiting a club. While seated in his SUV, he was shot at close range by a gunman who escaped with accomplices. Parry was taken to the hospital but died on the way, according to sources.
Police had suspected inter-gang rivalry behind the killing. Parry was previously linked to the Bishnoi gang but was believed to have switched allegiance to Canada-based gangster Goldy Brar.
A resident of Sector 33 in Chandigarh, the deceased faced multiple criminal cases in the union territory as well as in Punjab, including attempt to murder, extortion, assault, rioting and Arms Act violations.
His association with Bishnoi traces back to their college days, when they entered student politics through the Students Organisation of Panjab University in 2010. The two were also incarcerated together in the past.
Soon after the killing, the Lawrence Bishnoi gang claimed responsibility in a social media post, saying the murder was in retaliation for the killing of their financier in Dubai.
According to the police, the accused had been absconding and were wanted in multiple cases across Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh. Those arrested include the executors of the murder of national-level kabaddi player Sonu Nolta and Ashu Mahajan, a bar and restaurant owner, the source added.
