Nagpur, June 13 (UNI) At least five persons were killed and five other injured following an explosion at an explosives manufacturing factory in Dhamna here in Maharashtra on Thursday.
The explosion occurred in the afternoon, officials reported. “At least 5 people have died and 5 people are injured in an explosion at an explosives manufacturing factory in Dhamna. The team has reached the spot and rescue operation is going on ,” stated Ravinder Singal, Commissioner of Police, Nagpur.
Former Maharashtra Home Minister and NCP-SCP leader Anil Deshmukh was present at the site. He confirmed the ongoing efforts to address the aftermath of the explosion and highlighted the absence of the factory’s management.
“This incident of the explosion took place in an explosive unit near the village Dhamna. The incident took place in the afternoon. The manager and owner of the unit are absconding. The injured have been sent to the hospital for treatment… A team from the explosive department is here and further investigation is underway,” said Deshmukh.
Authorities are continuing their investigation to determine the cause of the explosion. Further details will be provided as the investigation progresses.
