In Bhopal, a significant religious event unfolded as 48 Jain idols—referred to as “2 Chaubisi”—arrived at the Chowk Mandir on Wednesday. According to Manoj Banga, President of the Panchayat Committee Trust Bhopal, and Secretary Manoj RM, the idols will be ceremonially installed during the upcoming Panch Kalyanak Mahotsav at Gondarmau.
The idols, currently in metal form, are set to undergo the sacred transformation into deities. In a deeply spiritual and vibrant procession, the idols were carried into the temple premises. Devotees, in the divine presence of Muni Shri Nirveg Sagar Ji and Muni Shri Vimal Sagar Ji Maharaj Sangh, reverently placed the idols on their heads and circumambulated the temple to the rhythm of devotional music.
Children from the Chowk area played Divya Ghosh, while 48 women, each carrying a sacred Kalash on their heads, led the procession. The men, dressed in traditional dhoti and dupatta, followed with the idols atop their heads.
At the entrance of Chowk Dharamshala, women performed Aarti and welcomed the idols with Kalash. The ceremony was followed by spiritual discourses, worship, and other religious rituals conducted by the revered Munis.
The idols will temporarily be taken home by devotees and are to be returned on May 31 for their formal installation. The event saw participation from hundreds of devotees, marking a moment of collective devotion and community spirit.
