Agra (UP), Mar 1 (UNI) Four persons were killed and about 18 people were injured when a double-decker bus rammed into a stationary truck in Fatehabad area of Agra district here in Uttar Pradesh on Saturday, police sources said.
Police sources said that the incident took place on the Agra-Lucknow Expressway when the bus of devotees was returning to Jaipur after visiting Kashi via Ayodhya after the Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj. “Near Lohia Ujhawali cut, the bus rammed into the truck parked on the side of the expressway from behind,” they said.
Police sources said that the devotees trapped inside the bus were taken out by the local residents by breaking the glass of the windows. “The police and UPIDA team also reached the spot. The injured were taken to the Community Health Centre, but due to the unavailability of doctors there, they had to be taken to nearby private hospitals,” they said.
Police sources said that four passengers sitting in the front row of the bus died in the incident. “More than one and a half dozen passengers were injured in the incident. It is believed that the accident occurred due to the bus driver dozing off,” they said.
