2,900 people rescued amidst heavy rains

  • CM reaches State Command Center to review flood situation

Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh is currently facing a severe flood crisis, with over 2,900 individuals safely evacuated following three consecutive days of relentless, heavy rainfall. Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav on Wednesday personally arrived at the State Command Center at Home Guard Headquarters, spearheading a comprehensive review of the escalating situation and ongoing public safety management with top officials.

= CM assesses relief

From the disaster control room, CM Yadav intently observed live rescue operations across affected districts. He engaged directly with field officials, confirming adequate resources for their vital work, which is being significantly bolstered by support from local communities and civil society organizations. Speaking to evacuated victims, Dr. Yadav offered assurances, stating, “The government stands with you every step of the way,” and pledged full compensation for all losses, including homes, belongings, crops, and livestock.

= Helpers to be honored

The Chief Minister issued strict directives to district collectors: maintain maximum vigilance, ensure all disaster control measures are in place, and initiate immediate rescues. He instructed them to expedite damage surveys post-flood and prepare proposals for timely compensation. Dr. Yadav also announced that individuals and social groups aiding in evacuations would be compiled into a list and honored on occasions like August 15th for their courageous efforts.

= Rain warnings, airlift ready

The Meteorological Department has issued dire warnings, predicting extremely heavy rainfall in districts such as Narmadapuram, Harda, Guna, Shivpuri, and Raisen over the next 24 hours, alongside very heavy to heavy downpours across numerous other areas. In response to potential extreme scenarios, CM Yadav confirmed the government’s readiness to airlift stranded individuals via helicopters if conventional rescue methods prove insufficient. He further stressed the provision of essential necessities—shelter, food, clean water, medicine, and clothing—for all rescued flood victims, and advised declaring school holidays as needed to ensure safety.
