21-member J&K wrestling team named for Senior National Championship

Jammu, Nov 30 (UNI) The Wrestling Association of Jammu and Kashmir (WAJK) on Saturday announced a 21-member team for the Senior Men Free Style, Greco Roman Style National Wrestling Championship, scheduled to be held at Bengaluru in Karnataka from December 6 to 8.

Two officials will also accompany the squad.

The team was selected under the Chairmanship of Basdev, President of the association that underwent screening conducted by the officials of the J&K Sports Council headed by Divisional Sports Officer, Jammu, Baljinder Singh at Maulana Azad Stadium.

Kusum Rani and Vireshwar Bhardwaj will accompany the team as coach.

Ishaq Ahmed who got gold medal in all India Police Games 2024 is also in the race of medal in Senior National championship.

The squad is comprised of 57-kg freestyle Mohd Aslam, in 61-kg Natter Singh, in 65-kg Keshav Singh, in 70-kg Chain Singh, in 74-kg Jarnail Singh, in 79-kg Mohd. Sadiq, in 86-Kg Muneer Ahmed, in 92-kg Surjeet Singh, in 97-kg Nadeem Ahmed, in 125-kg Ishaq Ahmed, in 63-kg Greeco Roman, Vishal Choudhary, in 67-kg, Ghulam Sawar, 72-kg, Sahil Dagoria, 77-kg Surya Dev of J&K Police, in 82-kg Amarjeet, in 87-kg Shamahoon and in 130-kg Amit Singh.

In women category, in 55-kg Upasana, in 62-kg Samirti and in 76-kg Sunaskhi are the team members.
