2 Palestinians killed by Israeli army in West Bank: Source

Ramallah, Sep 26 (UNI) Two Palestinians, including a woman, were killed by Israeli army gunfire in separate incidents in the West Bank, Palestinian sources said on Wednesday.

The Palestinian Red Crescent Society said in a press announcement that 37-year-old Zahoor Amour was killed and four others, two women and a child included, were injured by Israeli gunfire in the village of Anza, south of the northern West Bank city of Jenin.

Three of the injured a 73-year-old woman, a 9-year-old child and a young man were in critical condition, it said.

Palestinian security sources told Xinhua that the army entered the village to carry out an arrest campaign amidst live gunfire, which resulted in the casualties.

Local sources and eyewitnesses told Xinhua that the army invaded Jenin Wednesday afternoon, surrounding local hospitals and searching ambulances. It also bulldozed streets and neighborhoods and raided several homes.

Meanwhile, the Palestinian Health Ministry said in a brief announcement that 29-year-old Yahya Awad, was killed from critical chest injuries sustained during the Israeli army’s incursion into the Al-Fawwar refugee camp south of Hebron earlier in the day.

According to local Palestinian sources, the army stormed the camp and raided several homes amidst live gunfire and sound bombs, resulting in the injuries of four young men, including Awad. The others sustained moderate to minor injuries and were transported to a local hospital.

There has been no Israeli comment on the two incidents.

The West Bank has witnessed an escalation in tension since the outbreak of the conflict between Israel and Hamas in the Gaza Strip on Oct. 7, 2023.
