2 members of family shot dead over old rivalry in Bareilly

Bareilly (UP), Mar 13 (UNI) Two members of a family, including a man and his nephew, were shot dead by unidentified persons allegedly over an old rivalry in Faridpur area of Bareilly district here in Uttar Pradesh on Thursday, police sources said here.

Police sources said that the incident took place in Gharampur village when Daulat Khan (55) and his nephew Raees Khan (26) were going towards their farm on a bike. “On their way the deceased were attacked by unidentified miscreants, who fired indiscriminately,” they said.

Police sources said that while Daulat Khan was shot twice in the back, Raees Khan sustained bullet injuries in the chest and shoulder. “The attackers fled from the spot after committing the crime. “On receiving the information, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Anurag Arya, SP (South) Anshika Verma along with police force reached the spot and started investigating the case,” they said.

Police sources said that preliminary investigation has revealed an old rivalry behind the murder. In the year 2018, a small mechanic of the village was murdered, in which Daulat was named as an accused. Since then, there was tension between the two sides,” they said.

Police sources said that the police have detained two suspects and they are being questioned. “The forensic team was also called on the spot which collected blood stains, cartridge shells and other evidence. Police are trying to find out what kind of gun was used by the attackers and from what distance the bullets were fired,” they said.
