Beirut/Jerusalem, Aug 15 (UNI) Two people were injured Thursday night from a series of airstrikes carried out by Israeli warplanes and drones on Hezbollah sites in southern Lebanon, according to Lebanon’s official media and Lebanese security sources.
According to Lebanon’s National News Agency, an Israeli drone fired two missiles at a motorcycle in the village of Aitaroun in the central sector of southern Lebanon.
Lebanon’s health ministry said two people were injured in the attack. A security source told Xinhua that their target was a municipal police officer of the village.
Meanwhile, Israel’s military said Thursday that it struck southern Lebanon, targeting what it described as Hezbollah underground tunnels.
It vowed to “continue to operate in order to remove any threat posed to the State of Israel.”
A fragile ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah, brokered in November 2024 after 14 months of fighting, has not prevented continued Israeli attacks. On Wednesday, army chief of staff Eyal Zamir said Israeli strikes had killed more than 240 militants and carried out about 600 attacks since the truce took effect.
