2 employees of Sai Academy attempt suicide after job termination

Bhopal: In a distressing incident at Sai Sports Academy in the Ratibad area of Bhopal, two employees, including a woman, attempted to take their own lives by consuming phenyl after being fired from their positions. The two individuals were outsourced employees, and reports indicate that five employees were unexpectedly dismissed from their jobs.

The condition of the woman remains critical, and a video of her drinking phenyl has surfaced, leading to unrest among the remaining employees at the academy. Ras Bihari Sharma, the in-charge of Ratibad police station, stated that there is currently no information regarding the incident at the police station, but further action will be determined upon receiving a formal complaint.

Raju Lohat, the woman’s husband, said that both he and his wife, Neetu, had been employed at Sai Academy for 18 years, primarily handling cleaning duties. Three months prior, they were informed by an individual that the contract for outsourced employees had changed, and to continue their jobs, they would need to pay 25,000 rupees each. This individual allegedly demanded a total of five lakh rupees from all 22 outsourced employees. Despite documenting the incident and filing complaints with academy officials, no action was taken.

Raju recounted that after three months of silence, he and his wife, along with fellow employees Suresh Fakira, Pradeep, and Ganesh Ram, were suddenly informed of their termination. He emphasized that no financial demands had been made prior to this incident. Disheartened by the news, his wife and Suresh went to the washroom and ingested the phenyl available there. Neetu is currently in critical condition and has been placed in the ICU.
