19-year-old held after attempted security breach at Parliament

New Delhi, Aug 22 (UNI) In yet another incident of security breach, a 19-year-old youth managed to enter Parliament building this morning by climbing a tree before being apprehended by security personnel.

According to the DCP, New Delhi, the accused, identified as Ram Kumar Bind, resident of Bhadohi in UP, gained entry from Rail Bhawan side. He was taken into custody and later booked by the police.

A security official said, “Around 5 am today, CISF personnel on duty at IG-3 Gate noticed a person approaching the Sansad Chowk Circle and advised him to leave the area. Shortly thereafter, he was again seen near Morcha-8 on Red Cross Road, where he was promptly intercepted and moved away by the alert staff, who immediately informed seurity personnel.”

“Subsequently, the individual attempted to climb the wall taking the help of the Delhi Police barricades placed at the entrance of Red Cross Road near IG-2 Gate. At this stage, CISF armed personnel from IG-2 and IG-3 swiftly intervened and apprehended him,” he further added.

Preliminary inquiry indicates that he had been working at a factory in Surat and left three days ago to return to his hometown.

Police said that an FIR has been lodged against him and further interrogation is being carried out jointly by security agencies as per standard procedure.
