- Observed Indores Cleanliness Success Story from Pari Park at Trenching Ground
Bhopal, Indore has maintained its position as the cleanest city in India for seven consecutive years. The city has achieved a remarkable milestone in the field of sanitation. Members of the 16th Finance Commission visited Indore to observe various activities that have contributed to its consistent top ranking in cleanliness.
During their visit, they inspected Asia’s largest Gobar-Dhan Bio-CNG Plant at the Devguradia Trenching Ground. They also witnessed Indore’s cleanliness success story while sitting in Pari Park, which has been developed at the trenching ground.
Additionally, the delegation reviewed Material Recovery Facility Center for dry waste disposal, Bio-remediation of 1.5 million metric tons of old waste, City Forest spread across 100 acres with fruit-bearing & oxygen-producing trees
Construction, and Demolition Waste Processing Plants
The Finance Commission members praised Indore’s sanitation initiatives. Mayor Shri Pushyamitra Bhargava briefed them on the various steps taken to achieve cleanliness. Municipal Commissioner Shri Shivam Verma provided details about the Gobar-Dhan Bio-CNG Plant, highlighting that it is the largest of its kind in Asia, with a capacity of 550 TPD (tons per day), which is set to be increased to 800 TPD. Approval for this expansion has already been granted.
Shri Verma also mentioned that Indore is planning to utilize all types of waste efficiently, including fuel briquettes and liquid fertilizers. The city is not just focusing on cleanliness but also prioritizing environmental conservation.
The visit took place in the presence of Urban Development & Housing Minister Shri Kailash Vijayvargiya. The Finance Commission delegation included Smt Annie George Mathew, Dr. Manoj Panda, Dr. Soumya Kanti Ghosh, and Secretary Shri Ritvik Pandey. Also present were Divisional Commissioner Shri Deepak Singh, Collector Ashish Singh, Municipal Commissioner Shri Shivam Verma, and other officials.
