10 Maoists killed in encounter with security forces in Chhattisgarh

Chhattisgarh, Nov 22 (UNI) At least 10 Maoists were killed in an encounter with security forces in the Sukma district of Chhattisgarh early on Friday, a police official said.

Security forces have reportedly recovered several weapons, including three automatic rifles, from the location.

Sources reveal that during a joint anti-maoist operation by the Central Reserve Police Force and DRG, a contact was established between security forces and a group of Naxals.

Bastar Inspector General P Sundarraj confirmed the encounter involving Maoists, but the number of killed and weapons are not yet known.

He said that firing is underway from both sides.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah announced in August this year that Left Wing Extremism will be completely eradicated in the country before March 2026.

Chief Minister Vishnu dev Sai said that in a major operation in Sukma district this morning, the security forces killed 10 maoists.

He said that his government is working on a policy of zero tolerance towards Naxalism.

Since January this year, a total of 257 Maoists have been killed, 861 arrested and 789 surrendered.
