An FIR has been lodged against self-styled godman Asaram Bapu for allegedly sexually assaulting a 16-year-old girl in Jodhpur recently, Delhi Police said today. The minor girl submitted a written complaint at Kamala Market Police Station yesterday evening and on the basis of that a ‘zero first information report’, which allows a crime victim to approach the police anywhere, has been registered, the police said.
The police said since the incident occurred in Jodhpur, the case has been forwarded to the Rajasthan police. ‘’It’s has been forwarded to them,’’ the Delhi Police said.
The police said the girl, who was studying in an educational institution run by Bapu in Chhindwara in Madhya Pradesh, was taken to Bapu in Jodhpur for some ‘dharmic anusthan’ (religious activity) during a satsang (religious assembly) about two weeks ago.
Asaram tried to sexually assault her there, the police said. Asaram has been in news for all wrong reasons for quite some time now. He landed in trouble a few months ago for his malicious statement on the Delhi gang-rape incident.
The godman and his son were also investigated for the death of two cousins studying at his Ashram in Ahmedabad. The parents of the two students had alleged the spiritual leader and his son had performed ‘black magic’ on their wards, which resulted in their death.
