In India politics polorisation of youth factor as started with MR Rahul Gandhi taking over in Congress side and Mr Nitin Gadkari from Bharatiya Janata Party. These two persons are embodiment as poles but poles apart on ideology.
Mr Gandhi will lead the party in coming polls perticularly in Lok Sabha elections in 2014. If the UPA coalition led by Congress wins again for third term Mr Rahul Gandhi is certainly as Prime Minister.
But in the BJP it is a chair race among Advani, Sushma Swaraj, Narendra Modi, Arun Jatelee, Mr Nitin Gadkari has a Straus banking RSS to continue as National President for the second term. But who will be projected as leader in the polls and afterward is not yet clear.
Organisationally the BJP is not a national party like Congress but in Parliament it is leading a coalition of party NDA and had formed the government once. As a Parliament any party the BJP is next to Congress.
It is very strange situation in the Indian politics that while the Congress and the BJP depend on regional parties to be viable coalition the regional parties depend on Congress on BJP to have national support for its smooth sailing in states.
The regional parties are localised to state alone. The DMK or ADMK have to say outside Tamil Nadu, the Telengu Desam is confined to Andhra and Biju Janata Dal to Odisha alone. But there parties change the national alliance which suit them.
For the emergence of national parties the liquidation of regional parties at the polls is essential conditions.
Organisationally the BJP is far behind but Congress can make efforts to winback the political glory of being the only national party in the governance of the country at the centres as well as states.
Mr Rahul Gandhi if able to tape the youth of the country towards the moto of ‘one nation one people’ he will salvage India from fractured polities and poll verdicts.
The youths are 40-45 per cent in polulation and in the ratio in the electoral rolls all over the country.
The coming elections to assemblies and parliament will witness a new change with the emergence of youth power.
A little bit out of context but as a very powerful indication to youth consequences in the public affairs was witness in the Delhi rape case. The most remarkable factors was that despite police repression the youth girls and boys remained peaceful and offering strong resistance. Even the some reports as stone pelting were fabricated by the police authorities to justify strong action like lathi charge, tear gas shelling and dragging them away. Actually stone pelting was planted by police itself. Even the constable who died was a case heart ailment.
The youths are emerging on sober note it appears that Congress has played the youth card at a very appropriate time.
