This was the second day in continuation of protests against the AAP leader after a youth threw an egg on Mr Viswas during a press conference in the state capital yesterday.
Effigies of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Mr Viswas were burnt in Amethi. In Jasgdishpur, some Muslim groups showed black flag to Mr Viswas and other AAP leaders, including Sanjay Singh, when they were on their way to Amethi for addressing a Jan Viswas rally at the Ramlila ground in Amethi. Mr Viswas has already announced to contest elections against Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi from Amethi seat in the coming Lok Sabha elections.
The Muslim youths lead by one Rafiq Hassan protested over some anti-religious statement made by Mr Viswas in the past through his poem.
Later, several Congress activists, mostly women, who were celebrating the birthday of Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra at Gauriganj also raised slogan against the AAP leader when they were passing through the area.
They shouted ‘Kumar Viswas Murdabad, Rahul Gandhi- Priyanka Gandhi jindabad.’ Congress workers also raised slogans against the AAP leaders in Amethi and even some workers threw eggs on a bus which had brought AAP activists to the Ramlila ground.
At Gandhi chowk, the Congress workers burnt the effigies of Mr Kejriwal and Mr Viswas to register their protest.
Yesterday, a youth in his twenties, Saif Jaffari, from Nagina in Bijnore district, threw egg at Viswas and raised slogans against him. Later, he said he was protesting against his poems which allegedly hurt religious sentiments.
