Man gets 10-yr jail term for raping minor

Umaria, July 31:
A local court here sentenced one person to 10 years imprisonment on the charge of raping a minor girl and fined hims Rs 2,000.
According to the prosecution, Deepak alias Pintu Dwivedi lured the seven-year-old victim on the pretext of giving her a cholocate on February 23, 2007, in the Manpur Police Station limits and raped her.
On the basis of a complaint lodged by girl's parents, a chargesheet was produced in the court against the accused.
District and Sessions Judge H P Singh delivered the verdict yesterday.

Official suspended
Shahdol:
An assistant commissioner posted in the Tribal Department, has been suspended in the case of detection of insect in the meal distributed to the students in a tribal hostel and for other irregularities, official sources said.
The incident came to light when the Madhya Pradesh Assembly Committee visited the hostel one and half-month back. The committee also found that the standard of food grains and the mosquito nets were not up to the mark.
In the order, which was received by the district administration yesterday, said that Deputy Secretary, Tribal Welfare Department, Y S Bailey suspended P K Pandey on Tuesday , the sources said.
