Bhopal Posted On Saturday, July 17, 2010 | By Our Staff Reporter Bhopal, July 17: The 108 service, introduced by the joint venture of MP government and GVK EMRI a year back, is working for a Nobel cause by providing services to the mankind 24 hours a day. People from both the rural and urban areas are benefited from this service and many precious lives are saved during the year by this initiative. These views were expressed by Krishna Gaur, Mayor during the celebration programme organised by GVK EMRI, on the occasion of completion of one year of its 108 Emergency service in Madhya Pradesh. She further said that the service has proved itself as one of the fastest services in the entire area by helping the downtrodden during emergency and effectively handled the pregnancy-related cases without casualty. Venkat Changawali, CEO GVK EMRI said that during one of its service, 108 ERS has attended 92500 emergencies and saved nearly 5600 lives which includes 23000 pregnancy cases and 540 babies were delivered in the van itself. He further expressed his happiness and appreciated the cooperation provided by the MP govt. Director, Health & family welfare Department, AN Mittal said that the MP govt had started the 108 service in urban areas i.e. Bhopal, Gwalior, Indore and Jabalpur, introducing 55 vans, but seeing the response of the service during the year, it is likely to expand in the coming future in other cities and villages too. COO, GVK EMRI, MP, Rajesh Waghmare, Dy Director Health & family welfare, LB Asthana addressed programme. Representatives from the beneficiaries also expressed their experiences of the help provided by the services to them. Programme was coordinated by Neha Pandey.
