Chronicle News Service Sehore, July 1: Even though the people of the district heaved a sigh of relief when it rained here for some time, but tonnes of wheat, purchased on support price, and lying in the mandi premises got wet. It may be noted that there was good wheat crop this season and the farmers are also happy for selling their produce at support price but now it would be problem for those people who buy the wheat which got wet in the rains. It is learnt wheat weighing 6000 metric tonne was purchased on support price. Sand was laid below and polythene was kept over the wheat. Due to sudden rains the wheat got wet. The concerned staff even did not take effective measures to save the wheat from getting wet. It rained for nearly 45 minutes. As the drains were not cleared of mud and filth, water began to overflow on roads. Pedestrians had a tough time crossing the streets.
2 drown in river Dhar, July 1: Two youth drowned when they were taking bath in this district's Maan river, police said today. Indore-residents Bablu Chouhan (25) and Sukhdev (26) went to deep water to take bath yesterday, but drowned, police said adding that the bodies were fished out and sent for post-mortem.
