Madhya Pradesh Posted On Wednesday, March 17, 2010 | Chronicle News Service Hoshangabad, Mar 17: Newly elected Zilla Panchayat president Yojan Gandha, addressing in the first meeting of Zilla Panchayat, said that officials and public representatives should establish coordination to reach the benefits of various public welfare schemes to the common man. The benefits of schemes should reach to the people they are meant for. She told the officials to come to the meeting with full preparation and provide the sought information to the members. Zilla Panchayat CEO Sanjeev Singh said that public representatives' contribution in implementation of the scheme is essential. The public representatives are aware of the ground realties. The benefits of government schemes can be provided to every one through them, he said. Singh urged them to give their important suggestions by visiting their areas with positive approach. More and more villagers would be benefited by their suggestions, he added. Vice-president Mahesh Paliwal said that schemes to provide drinking water in rural areas should be prepared, so that it could be available in the summer season. Zilla Panchayat member Dinesh Sharma asked to make necessary arrangements to help the farmers to bring their produce to support price procurement centres without any difficulty. He advised to constitute a committee comprising officials and public representatives to monitor works carried out under National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme Act. Another member Fagram requested to provide a list of telephone numbers of all the officials. This would help the public representatives to apprise officials of problems of their areas, he said. He also asked for speedy payment of increased wages to labourers under NAREGA. Works of NAREGA and wheat procurement by Farmers Welfare Civil Supply Corporation were also reviewed by Dy Director of PHED in the meeting.
