Bhopal Posted On Saturday, March 13, 2010 | By Our Staff Reporter Bhopal, Mar 13: Bhopal District Collector Shivshekhar Shukla has called upon the NGOs to participate actively in 'Aao Madhya Pradesh Banayen' programme of the government as people's participation. Shukla was addressing a meeting of office bearers of NGOs convened by the Jan Abhiyan Parishad at the collector's office. He said that the main purpose of 'Aao Madhya Pradesh Banayen' is people's participation in development works. For this purpose the NGOs have a great role to play. Under this programme seven works have been notified for public participation like water conservation, energy conservation, improving greenery, and cleanliness, de-addiction, education for all and health for all. He said that the NGOs could actively participate in these fields and do their bit towards development of state. Shukla said that the NGOs could work like a bridge between the government and people. He asked them to actively participate in the important work of freeing polythene in areas surrounding the Upper Lake. On holidays there would be more crown at the Upper Lake and Shahpura Lake banks. The NGOs can appeal to the people not to pollute the area with polythene bags. Chief Executive Officer of District Panchayat Ms GV Rashmi has asked to come forward in starting computer classes in Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe hostels, rehabilitation of uneducated rag pickers in railway platforms, and encourage men for vasectomy operations. SM Rathore of Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan sought cooperation from the NGOs for primary education to all those children who don't go to school, giving them training according to their age etc. District Women and Child Development Officer said the NGOs should come forward in the field of cleanliness of body and home, street corner plays to explain in simple language to the rural folks about the problems faced by them. She said that in case of violence at home the women may contact on help line No. 155343. The collector asked the NGOs to choose their own field of action.
