With the rising use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides worldwide, a large number of studies have also been conducted against them. It has been found in the studies that the fertility of farmlands decreases progressively by using the fertilizers everytime and the quantity has to be raised during every cultivating season. The use of chemical fertilizers is also causing deaths of birds which control the pests in crops naturally. The flocks of birds eat the pests, extracted from land after ploughing and later from the crops. The chemical fertilizers have certainly increased the yield and pesticides have saved the crops from pests but on the other hand their ill effects are also coming to the fore. It is because of this fact the organic farming is highly being considered world over. The chemical fertilizers and pesticides are not used in the organic farming. It rather uses manure, vermi-compost as fertilizers and birds and other natural means for controlling pests. Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has vowed to make the State an "organic State". Degree and diploma courses are being introduced on organic farming to attract the rural youths for it. The organic farming would get a modern makeover by introduction of latest organic education. The youths would gain expertise in manufacturing and utilisation of the organic fertilizers. They would also be trained about the manufacturing and using the agricultural equipment. Under the organic farming 2010 policy of the State, the organic produce would be certified. The farmers engaged in organic farming would avail 25 to 75 per cent discount in certification. Knowledge centres would be opened at various places to promote organic farming and villages would be connected with them. These centres would be instrumental to provide all kinds of information to the farmers round the year.
