Bhopal Posted On Tuesday, March 09, 2010 | By Our Staff Reporter Bhopal, Mar 9: Farmers' Welfare Minister Dr Ramkrishna Kusmaria has said that diploma and degree courses on the subject of organic farming are proposed to be started with a view to connecting educated rural youths to organic farming in the state. Private-public participation will also be promoted in this sector. A proposal to establish State Organic Farming Fund is also under consideration. This fund will extend economic assistance to the farmers adopting organic farming. Dr Kusmaria was addressing a meeting at Bhopal, which was convened to give final touches to state's Organic Policy-2010. Minister of State for Farmers' Welfare Brijendra Pratap Singh and Agriculture Production Commissioner MK Rai were also present at the meeting. Dr Kusmaria said that several simple methods are being incorporated in the Organic Policy for marketing and certification of organic farm products. Such provisions will be made which can provide 25 to 75 per cent exemption to farmers in the certification of their organic farm products. Provisions are also being made for giving exemption to organic products from taxes imposed in state's mandis. Farmers of every village will be connected with e-communication service through Gyan Centres so that they can understand organic farming methods clearly. A web site of State Organic Mission will also be launched. He said that efforts would be undertaken for establishment of National Organic Agriculture University in the state. Demand will be raised with the Union Government for providing necessary assistance for it. A point-wise discussion was made at the meeting on the Organic Policy-2010. Members came out with valuable suggestions. Those present at the meeting included chairperson of Rajya Gausewa Samvardhan Board Meghraj Jain, chairperson of Rajya Krishak Ayog Rajendra Pathak, Madhya Pradesh Kisan Sangh general secretary Shivkumar Sharma, Principal Secretary Agriculture Indraneel Shankar Dani, progressive farmer Ashok Patidar, agriculture scientist Dr GS Kaushal and farmers drawn from various regions of the state.
