United News of India
Kolkata, Feb 10:
Airconditioning and commercial refrigeration major Blue Star looks for Rs 150-crore revenue from its room AC business in the last quarter this fiscal to post a 15 per cent annual growth.
''We are expecting around 15 per cent revenue growth in room AC business this year. Till December, 2009-10 the revenue was Rs 200 crore. But we expect to mop up another Rs 150 crore in the fourth quarter, '' vice-president, Product Group, P V Rao today said.
The company, having ten per cent market share in the country's room AC business, earned a revenue of Rs 310 crore from this segment in the last financial year.
Blue Star had launched a new range of energy labeled (star-rated) room air conditioners to be available in a wide range of 2, 3 and 5 star ratings and in multiple capacities.
The Bureau of Energy Efficiency (Ministry of Power, Govt of India) had made 'Energy labeling' (star-rating) mandatory with effect from January seven this year, Mr Rao said.
Considering the power savings that star-rated machines offer, Blue Star had been promoting star-rated products for nearly two years now and was one of the few companies having taken a lead in this area, he claimed.
The company expected the new range of star-rated energy-efficient split air conditioners to further strengthen its position, Mr Rao added.
