Bhopal, Feb 9:
Young cricketer of the city, Anupam Gupta has been selected to Ranji Trophy Tournament (West Zone) and will be representing Baroda Cricket Team for the forthcoming matches.
Anupam told that 'the decision was taken during a meeting of the Senior Selection Committee of Baroda Cricket Association (BCA) held on Feb 4. The team picked up by the selectors include Irfan Pathan, Yusuf Pathan and Munuf Patel.
Anupam has been selected on the basis of his splendid and enduring performances in various state and national level tournaments. He is left hand batsman and a slow left-arm orthodox bowler.
Talking to Central Chronicle Anupam said "I moved to Baroda 5 years back in search of cricketing career and joined Kiran More's Academy'. After the joining in the Academy I have decided to show my skills in the very first chance and made place as a Captain in Under-17 Baroda team, after that I never looked back, he added.
Finally, today I can say I am very near to my childhood dream, and now I just concentrating on my performance at Ranji, because I think this is my main step towards Indian Cricket Team. And I am very thankful to my coach Suraj Baghora for giving me excellent training under his guidance, and my mom and dad for their support and wishes."
Anupam also put up outstanding performance in Veenu Mankad Trophy, Cooch Behar Trophy, and Vijay Merchant Trophy and was selected in Under-19 Baroda team.
As Vice Captain his team got Best Zone Team award. Afterwards he was selected in Zonal Team and attended training programme organised by National Cricket Academy (NCA) at Bangalore. He had also represented the winning team in Under-19 Cooch Behar Trophy in 2008 for which, he was felicitated by the Baroda Cricket Association (BCA).
Anupam's family members, friends and well-wishers congratulated him on his success and wished him good luck for all his future endeavours.
