By Our Staff Reporter Bhopal, Nov 29: The Gas Peedit Nirashrit Pension Bhogi Sangharsh Morcha organised demonstration at Lily Talkies Junction and burnt 7-feet long effigy of Daw Chemicals which is new owner of Union Carbide. They also shouted slogans against Daw Chemicals. They said the Daw Chemicals should take the responsibility of Union Carbide. Morcha president Balkrishna Namdev, Rampyari Bai Yadav, Ram Bai, Kamla Bai, Prem Bai, Feroza Bi, Mahabano, Koushar Jehan and others were prominently present. After the demonstration a meeting was organised at Neelam Park. Addressing the gathering Namdev said that 25 years have passed since the worst industrial tragedy took place. But the person responsible for the tragedy is still absconding from court. Union Carbide was merged with Daw Chemicals but the Government of India did not objected to it, he said. He said that after the merger the criminal responsibility is with the new owner, Daw Chemicals. He demanded life-time pension to the widows, handicapped and seriously injured and destitute old persons due to the gas tragedy.
