State level-awareness for HIV/AIDS

On the occasion of World AIDS Day-2009, a weeklong HIV/AIDS awareness initiative programme is being organised under the joint aegis of a premier national volunteer organisation that pioneer the family planning movement in the country Family Planning Association of India (FPAI), Regional Technical Centre, Madhya Pradesh and UNFPA, Bhopal. The programme was inaugurated by the chief guest of the programme Dr SR Mohanty, Head Socio Legal Study of National Law Institute University (NLIU), Bhopal on Saturday.
Presenting a research titled epidemic at a glance in Madhya Pradesh, Vikas Jain, Programme Officer of FPAI, RTC urged that there are 3285 cumulative AIDS cases (1988 to September 2009) has been registered in the state. He said that if we analyse the date gender wise that the ratio is 71 per cent male and 29 per cent female.
Exploring the research age wise the distribution of AIDS cases are 0 to 10 years (3 %), 11 to 20 years (3 %), 21 to 30 years (38 %), 31 to 40 years (40 %), 41 to 45 years (7 %) and above 45 year (9%). He further said that if we will see the study mode wise distribution of AIDS Cases than it is sexual route (79 %), blood transfusion (8 %), perinatal (3 %), injection (1%) and not known (9%).
The chief guest Dr Mohanty said that to eliminate stigma and discrimination towards people living with HIV/AIDS, we have to make an educated society were these people can easily live their life with happiness. He also told if we talk about the act of human rights for these people them there are very good acts has been approved by the Government for the community and our law and order is implementing it very honestly but if we will show our respect to this community from our core of heart and try to help them from this cruse than no need for this acts and laws.
