Business Posted On Tuesday, September 15, 2009 | Agencies Nagpur, Sept 15: A trade delegation from the United Kingdom (UK), led by Minister for Trade, Investment and Business Lord Mervyn Davies, will visit Nagpur tomorrow to explore the possibilities of business in the orange city, especially with the ambitious Multi-Modal International Hub Airport at Nagpur (MIHAN) project, coming up here. During his visit, the first ever to be made by a British minister to the city, Lord Davies would meet various government officials, address a meeting of industrialists and businessmen, interact with engineering students, and also visit the MIHAN site, according to a British Deputy High Commission press release. Nagpur is one of the nine emerging cities in India showcased by a UK Trade and Investment report as having the potential to offer serious business opportunities for UK firms, the press release said. With Nagpur poised to become a major commercial centre, British companies were keen to be partners in the growth, with some already active in the city, it said. The visit has been organised by UK India Business Council (UKIBC). Lord Davies will be accompanied by British Deputy High Commissioner, Western India, Ms Vicki Treadell, and UKIBC CEO Sharon Bamford. The delegation will consist of representatives of 14 companies, including A4e, SCI (education), Aanya (build environment), Addleshaw Goddard, Grant Thorton Standard Chartered (financial services), Archial Architects (architecture), Benoy (construction), LINK-IBS, Business Venture (business consultants), Croft Engineering (engineering), Mersey Partnership (urban development), Mishcon de Reya and Morgan Walker (legal services), the press release said. UK's Nagpur links included Scott Wilson, which has done the master planning for MIHAN special economic zone (SEZ) and is now doing the design for the airport runway and terminal building, Mott MacDonald, consultants to MIHAN for power transmission and distribution network, and PWS Signs, a company based in Northern Ireland that has a factory in Nagpur that produces road signs, it added.
