Bhopal Posted On Saturday, August 22, 2009 | By Our Staff Reporter Bhopal, Aug 22: Coming to Bhopal, the lovely city of lake's, one faces the most arrogant attitude of the smiling auto driver. Ready to chop your pocket and extort money. All efforts of the visitor to save his/her money prove futile if they wish to take an auto and ply home or to a hotel. As it is, Bhopal auto's are known to be most decorated and expensive too. Auto's in Bhopal charge absorbitantly. Having no other efficient and safe mod of transport most of the domestic tourist are forced to travel by auto's who have no count of tariff through meter. These Auto drivers' demand at will and commuters are forced to pay. Even the prepaid Taxi's system fails to negotiate rates for tourist. Prepaid auto counter's at the two railways stations are making mockery as at times, they prove to be costlier. Taking an Auto for Arera Colony E-2, From the main railway station of Bhopal, tourists have to pay Rs 80 at the prepaid counter. This amount is multiplied during late night hours. The basic problem that starts from here, is that the auto driver starts picking up more passengers on the route. Secondly, he would refuse entering the colony and drop the passenger outside, unless, he is paid more. Many times the passengers are robbed as others who are sitting along, rob these passengers along with the auto drivers. Even when, most of the passengers coming for the first time to Bhopal, are tipped on the working of Auto's in the city. These passengers are bound to be cheated. In order to safeguard themselves from cheating, passengers who opt for prepaid system, meet the same fate. The condition of local buses is worst in the city. Most of the private buses should not be getting Road Worthiness certificates from RTO, seeing to their condition. Further passengers are not safe while traveling in them. Another nuisance in these buses are traveling pick pockets. These offenders travel in buses and snap pockets of passengers. Many times the bus operating staff is also involved in the crime.
