Civic bodies to look after community halls |

Bhopal Posted On Thursday, July 16, 2009 | By Our Staff Reporter Bhopal, July 16: Urban Administration and Development Minister Babulal Gaur today told the state Assembly that civic bodies will look after maintenance of various community halls henceforth. ''A notification in this regard would be issued within 24 hours,'' Gaur said, on the directions of Speaker Ishwardas Rohani during the Question Hour. As the matter was raised by Lakhan Ghanghoria (Cong), the Speaker said community halls were built by public representatives and institutions at several places but their maintenance was not done properly. Rohani said the government should take a policy decision in this regard and direct civic bodies, including the Municipal Corporation, to take adequate care of community halls and provide them on fixed rent to common people to increase revenue. Agreeing with the Speaker, Gaur said the notification would be issued within 24 hours. During the Question Hour, the Speaker directed Gaur to take necessary steps to repair roads in Jabalpur. He said a secretary-level officer be sent from Bhopal to Jabalpur to review road construction work in a meeting of concerned officials and contractors and direct them to complete work within a given time frame. Replying to supplementary questions by Harendrajeet Singh Babbu (BJP), Gaur said work for laying sewage line and improving water supply was progressing in Jabalpur under government scheme. Roads had been dug at several places due to this. Rohani also directed Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kailash Vijaywargiya to take steps to establish industries in Jabalpur as it good potential in this regard.
