Vehicle lifters in cop net

23 two-wheelers worth Rs 11 lakh seized

Staff Reporter, Bhopal Koh-e-Fiza police have busted a gang of vehicle lifters. The suspects had been lifting vehicles from Hamidia Hospital and other areas for the last three months.

Police have arrested six suspects and seized 23 two-wheelers worth Rs 11 lakh from them. Police said they were receiving complaints about two-wheelers getting stolen from Hamidia Hospital premises.

After receiving instructions from senior officials, the police swung into action. To nab the culprits, police parked one of their own vehicles in the hospital but for many days no one came to steal it. Then one day a man came to steal the vehicle.

A police team that was stationed there caught the suspect. The accused was identified as Devendra Joshi, resident of village Devalia under Ichhawar tehsil of Sehore district.

Devendra told police that he used to steal two-wheelers and sell them to Mohar Singh Kushwaha of Nasrullaganj. Police also arrested Mohar Singh from Nasrullaganj. Police said the suspects could be involved in more incidents of thefts.

Mohar Singh said he had purchased 23 two-wheelers from Devendra Joshi and he used to offer them on rent of 25 to 30 per cent in Nasrullaganj and nearby areas.

Four other persons Ramvilas Keer, Shyamlal, Kanchan Kushwah and Totaram involved in this activity were also arrested. Investigations are on.
