Indicating an end of a decade long boycott of BJP prime ministerial candidate and Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi, US ambassador to India Nancy Powell met the Gujarat strongman at his official residence here this morning.
During the hour-long meeting both the leaders discussed various issues pertaining to bilateral relations including the US investment in Gujarat in sectors like infrastructure and socio-economic development, sources said.
Incidentally, Mr Modi’s much-hyped US visa issue was never on the agenda as clarified by the US embassy yesterday.
The meeting was attended by senior Gujarat government officials and US consul general Peter Haas. After the meeting with Mr Modi, the US ambassador left for her parley with leader of opposition Shankarsinh Vaghela.
