Uma Bharti makes first appearance in UP assembly

Agencies, Lucknow
BJP’s firebrand leader and Uttar Pradesh legislator Uma Bharti today made her first appearance in the Assembly after being elected to the house in March.

Ms Bharti later met Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav and gave a memorandum relating to the development works in her constituency Charkhari, cleanness of Ganga and the Allahabad Kumbh Mela. ‘The CM has given me a positive response to my demands,’ she told mediapersons here.

Speaker Mata Prasad Pandey ordered to put an extra plastic chair in the house as demanded by Ms Bharti as she was not able to sit in the chair of the house. But as the house was disturbed during the entire proceedings today, so she could not speak a word.   It was her first appearance in the Vidhan Sabha after being elected from the Charkhari Assembly seat in Mahoba district of Bundelkhand region in the last election.

She had skipped the oath taking ceremony of the elected MLAs and was later administered oath by the Speaker in his chamber.
She, however, did not attend any sitting of the House and skipped the entire month-long budget session during June-July .
The assembly membership of Ms Bharti was under threat if she did not attend this session. A member of the house is disqualified if he or she do not attend the house for six months.
