Ugly Scar in Kashmir

The recent upsurge in anti-Indian militancy in Kashmir Valley are the set design of the Hurriat and Hizbul organzation to disrupt the Amarnath yatra till the end of its period and to ensure that it get abolished permanently in future for all time to come.

They considered it as strong Hindu presence in Kashmir. Presently the violence has been escalated there on the shooting down the wanted terrorist Burhan Wani by the security forces.

Last month in June Burhan Wani issued a warning that he and his associates would attack on separate colonies for Army Jawans and Kashmiri Pandits if set up in the Kashmir Valley. The Kashmir violence creating its counter in Hindu dominated Jammu. There are apprehension that in near future the serious phase of violence and counter violence there. The Amarnath Yatra has been suspended due to violent situation in the Valley.

Hectic efforts are going in the Valley to resume it as early possible and not to give upperhand to its disrupter and further encouragement of them. With the beginning of the yatra the Hurriat and Hizbul mounted the militancy on any pretext. At many places the Pilgrims forced to raise pro-Pakistan slogans. The yatra vehicles were stoned, attacked and set on fire. Few days ago Union Home Minister Mr.Rajnath Singh also visited Srinagar to review the situation there.

The militants have warned the local people to come and attend the procession and keep Bandh on every call otherwise they would be attacked and killed. The Valley is in fear grip. The ex-Chief Minister Mr.Omer Abdullah has said that now in mosque of Srinagar pro-Pakistan slogans, Islamists by flags were rauset. The Hurriat and Hizbul are adding new dimensions in its agitation.

They want withdrawal of Special Armed Forces Act and Army Units. They are very much apprehensive on the construction of Army quarters in Srinagar. The Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti has said that violence has left behind a trail of death and destruction in Valley over the violence turmoil over the last more than 20 years.

Common people really went to peace and stability but handful of militants have created atmosphere of fear in the Valley. All of us want tangible confidence building measures in the State.
