Two persons including a college student were arrested in connection with attempt to murder of a doctor’s niece in Sanyogitaganj police station area on Sunday.
The accused had reached the hospital’s third floor, where the victim lives, and slit her throat using a sharp edged weapon with the intension of robbery. However, the accused could not rob the victim as her grandmother reached the spot on time.
DIG Harinarayanachari Mishra said that victim Rajshree Verma, niece of Dr Ravi Verma was alone at home at Minesh Hospital in Sajan Nagar. She was attacked by two persons a few days ago. A joint team of crime branch and Sanyogitaganj police station was constituted for the arrest of the accused.
The team was examining the CCTV footage when two persons were seen fleeing the spot in a grab. Police team collected information about the suspected persons and finally managed to nab them. The accused were identified as Rupesh Jat, a resident of Radhaswami Nagar and his friend Dheeraj Jat, a resident of Dwarkapuri area of the city and the permanent residents of Balwada, Khargone.
Accused Rupesh told the police that he worked in Dawa Bazaar and his brother Deepak Jat was employed in Minesh Hospital a few months ago when Rupesh used to go to give him lunch in hospital. He came to know that Rajshree lives alone and receives collection of money of her two hospitals. Accused Dheeraj is a student of adverting & public relation from a city college.
Rupesh prepared the plan to rob Rajshree and later he along with Dheeraj reached wine shop in Sajan Nagar and consumed liquor there. After consuming liquor they reached the hospital around 11.50 pm on January 13 for the robbery.
They climbed up at third floor of the hospital with the help of. However, they fled after slitting the victim’s throat as her mother-in-law raised an alarm, police said.
Police have recovered the sharp edged weapon from the accused. The accused are being questioned for other crimes.
