Close on the heels of their meeting with BJP’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi, the RSS leaders today had a meeting with party chief Rajnath Singh as the final round of Lok Sabha polls come to a close tomorrow.
Mr Modi had a long meeting with RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat and other top leaders last evening to take stock of the electioneering.
In today’s meeting, that also took place at RSS headquarters, party President Singh is believed to have discussed the post poll scenario as the counting of votes takes place on May 16.
The senior Sangh leaders he met today included Mohan Bagwat’s deputy Bhaiyyaji Joshi and Suresh Soni, who are RSS points man, in dealing with the BJP.
The three leaders were closeted for a long time. Mr Singh, however, dismissed any speculations that the discussions focussed on government formation.
It was rather a thanks giving meeting for the RSS workers’ support during the over a month-long electioneering, he said.
After the electioneering for the final round ended yesterday, Mr Modi landed in Delhi and went to former prime minister Atal Behari Vajpayee before his visit to the RSS headquarter.
‘’After addressing final campaign rally came to seek Atalji’s blessings. Had met him when campaign started. Its always special to meet him,’’ Mr Modi tweeted.
Modi calls for unity: Winding up his months-long Lok Sabha campaign BJP prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi has held out a promise of change and called for unity among the people of the country.
‘’It is we who have to decide whether we want to fight each other or we want to unite to fight poverty? The fight will lead us nowhere while unity will take our nation to greater heights,’’ Mr Modi said in a blog late last night.
