Tilgara Gram Sabha of state gets Rashtriya Gaurav-Gram Sabha Award

Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Gaurav-Gram Panchayat Award-2012 was conferred on tribal-dominated Tilgara Gram Sabha in Dhar district of the state.
The award was received by Sarpancha Smt. Jambai Muniya. The award carries Rs. 5 lakh and a citation. Besides, Zila Panchayats of Dhar and Sehore districts and Janpad Panchayats of Harda and Shahpur (Betul) in Madhya Pradesh were also awarded for outstanding discharge of village development responsibilities. These awards were given away at a function held at Vigyan Bhavan here today. Union Rural Development Minister Shri Jairam Ramesh, Union Minister of State (Independent charge) for Development of North Eastern Region Shri Paban Singh Ghatowar and Union Minister of State for Panchayat Raj Shri V. Krishnachandra Dev gave away the awards.
Tilgara is an ideal Gram Panchayat in Dhar district. There is no scope of untouchability in this Gram Panchayat where members of all sections of society sit together and take decisions with consensus. Gender discrimination has also no place over there. Sarpancha of the Gram Panchayat is a tribal and works shoulder-to-shoulder with the elected panchas for the development of the village.
Fourteen Gram Panchayats of the state were also awarded at the function. They include Raibore and Bhatparariya Gram Panchayats of Harda district, Myana, Hinotiya, Ramnagar (Lodhpura) and Jamra of Guna district, Pagdal and Bankheri of Hoshangabad district, Chhirari of Sagar district, Nadiya of Khargone district, Singhana of Dhar district and Baghwar Gram Panchayat of Narsinghpur district. Besides, Dhar and Sehore Zila Panchayats were given awards worth Rs. 25 lakh each and Harda and Shahpur (Betul) Janpad Panchayats Rs. 15 lakh each under Panchayat Empowerment & Accountability Incentive Scheme (PEAIS) and Rs. 5 lakh each to Gram Panchayats.
A 65-member team of Madhya Pradesh comprising representatives of three-tier Panchayat Raj institutions attended the function. Madhya Pradesh Commissioner Panchayat Raj Shri Vishwamohan Upadhyay, CEO of Dhar Zila Panchayat Shri Deepak Singh and senior officers of the state were also present on the occasion.
It may be mentioned that under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan, these institutions are playing an important role in the smooth implementation of three-tier Panchayat Raj system in Madhya Pradesh. Most of Panchayat Raj institutions are discharging their responsibilities with full accountability. This is the reason that besides economic changes, pleasant social transformation is also being witnessed due to fast pace of progress in the rural areas of the state.
