Teachers make students pledge not to vote for BJP

Chronicle Reporter, Itarsi

Teachers of Vijaylaxmi Industrial Training Institute in Itarsi made students take a unique pledge – not to vote for the Bharatiya Janata Party or BJP.

The students, prompted by a teacher, pledged not to vote for the party in upcoming Lok Sabha and state assembly elections, till the party stops conducting online examinations. In a grainy one-minute video tweeted, a group of students are seen standing in lines and repeating their pledges.

The students also pledge not to support the party or it’s volunteers and workers in any manner, and convince at least three more persons to take a similar pledge in the next 24 hours. The incident reportedly took place during Republic Day celebrations on January 26, 2018. The party is reportedly facing anti-incumbency.

In recent civic polls, the BJP and the Congress won nine civic bodies in the state. There is also a lot of opposition against exams being conducted in online mode.
