Mining baron Sudhir Sharma, an absconder in the Madhya Pradesh Professional Examination Board (MPPEB) scam, on Friday reached a local court in order to surrender.
Sharma reached the court along with his counsel and a few friends. His anticipatory bail was rejected by various courts earlier. A reward was also announced on information leading to his arrest.
It is being believed that the court would hand over Sharma to the Special Task Force (STF), which is investigating into the scam. Sudhir Sharma is one of the main accuse wanted in constable recruitment examination scam, he was absconding since his name came in light during the investigation of STF. He was under pressure since various Courts denied application for his anticipatory bail and order to attach his properties. He was known as very close to former higher education minister Laxmikant Sharma. He arrived in court premises with his advocate and close associates. Earlier, as per order his properties may be attached, if he did not produce himself in Court before July 28. Due to these reasons he was in pressure, the STF also announced reward of Rs 5000 on giving a clue about his where about.
Sharma produced his surrendering documents in front of the Court of Chief Judicial Magistrate Pankaj Singh Maheshwari. The STF team wanted to take Sharma on remand, but his Advocate informed the court that his client is not absconding but he surrendered in front of court and helping investigations. The Court has given time to attach his property till August 5. STF said that they have got the only one day time to stop action to attach his property, this will affect the process. The next hearing is due on July 28 and accuse has surrendered much earlier. Now Sudhir Sharma will be produced in Court on Saturday. Once, Sudhir Sharma was in charge of Cultural Cell in Bhartiya Janata Party. He came in light with Income Tax Department raids on his premises. When STF started investigation in MPPEB scam his name came in light once again. The STF called him for questioning, he came once but latter he was served notices on several occasion but he never appear in front of STF.
