Student union poll turns violent, teenager dies in Neemuch

3 class representatives missing from BU hostel

The student union elections in the state are turning violent. In Neemuch a student died from gunshot injury, while in Harda police two groups of students came face-to-face leading to tension. In Bhopal three college representatives (CRs) have gone missing from the Barkatullah University hostel.

A 17-year-old youth, identified as Rahul, son of Ramesh Banjara, was shot dead in Jawad area of Neemuch. While the police said death resulted from accidental firing, the family members of the teenager claimed that the shooting was the outcome of the rivalry between two organizations pitted against each other in local college elections.

Members of Banjara community blocked the blocked Neemuch-Kota inter-state highway for four hours to protest against the killing. They demanded strict action against the culprit and a compensation of Rs 1 crore.

According to sources Hindu Chhatra Sena’s Naveen Tiwari had fired to intimidate students of the other group. But the bullet accidentally hit Ramesh Banjara. Accused student leader Naveen Tiwari has been arrested.

In Harda two groups of students came face-to-face with each other leading to tension. Police had to intervene to prevent flare 3 CRs missing in Bhopal In state capital, the ABVP and NSUI are challenging each other after three class representatives (CRs) were reported missing from Barkatullah University campus.

The mobiles of all the three missing CRs are switched off. NSUI spokesman Vivek Tripathi has expressed apprehension of their abduction. However ABVP’s Ankit Garg said their organization does not indulge in such tactics.
